Why the Heck Does it Take So Long?

Hi there,
My name is [removed] and I am replying to the email that was sent to me on Thursday, 2-10-2011, stating that a refund had been issued to my account, it's been 5 days and there is still no refund in my account. I paid to ship it back to you, so I expect a FULL refund of the money that you took out of my account,The balance taken from my account was 69.84, and I am waiting on the money to come so I CAN get my new phone, which you have so kindly kept me from getting. The money was taken out of my account within ten minutes of my order being placed, so i ask you, why the hell does it take so long to put it back? This matter should have been resolved already and it has taken long enough. You sold me a junk phone, own up to your mistake and give me my money back, why does this have to be so difficult? Its a no brainer, not a think thru decision, I really hope you can get this back to me soon because I need it, I don't have thousands laying in my bank account, every cent matters and your holding me up. I am not trying to be rude but this is kind of rediculous.

****************

Dear sir:

Our return policy clearly states you pay for the return shipping, and that we do not refund shipping fees. Not only is it on the website, but also on the Return Form you filled out to send the item back. That aside, the phone you sent back wasn't even defective! I do admit we sell shitty phones sometimes, but--no. This time it was all you; I personally played with your phone and the reason stated for return? FALSE.

So, you have a problem about the time frame of your refund showing up in your bank account? I could give two shits. I don't work for them and couldn't tell you when it will be there. I do suggest you call them up and hash it out with them.

You know what? "Your" right, this *is* "rediculous". I'm so over this.

Have a good weekend!

Subject: samsung

I just recived a cell phone from you.It was sapposed to be brand new. It looks new yet it did not have a oweners manual in the box.I tried to call you about my delema. But it seems that your business is so good that you do not have towork a full day on fridays. God bless you. I am upset that you may not read this untill Monday morning.Ihave no Idea how to work this phone am I sapossed to guess at it. I will probly return it on Monday.

It seems English/spelling FAIL still continues.

I emailed the customer, but they probably returned the item already. Unauthorized returns are a pain in the ass, mainly because a high percentage of them put no identifying information in the box, so I have to Nancy Drew everything :/

Warning! Learning Curve: Slippery When Dumb

To Whom It May Concern,

I placed an order for one Motorola Backflip on January 27th. I received the device on February 4th and after a few days have decided this is not the product I originally believed it to be. While the handset is one of high quality, it exceeds my expectations and causes more grief and confusion than anything else. I simply cannot grasp the learning curve associated with this device and wish to return it. There is nothing wrong with the device and considering the time span of which I've possessed it, I see no reason why it can't be returned. Thus I'm emailing you folks so that I can receive a Return Authorization (RA) Form and send this device back to you.

************************

I was ROFL when I read this one. What I wonder is this: what did she "originally believe it to be"? An iPhone? A RAZR? What?

I bought a vibrator, and it wasn't what i originally believed it to be, but I made the most of it *rimshot*

This phone isn't ridiculously hard to use... it's pretty intuitive actually. Hell, my mom has a G1, and she learned to use it within a week or two. People are lazy and don't *want* to learn.

She can return it for a refund -20% *shrugs*

Too Bad, So Sad...

Subject: No Subject

Just wanted to express that i will never order from you guys again or recommend you to anyone else.  I have ordered merchandise online from many companies as i do a lot of ordering online.  I think the 20% restocking fee is a rip off. In addition you also charged for the shipping.  As a parent with children i know i will need to order other phones i already have a company that wants to keep their customers happy by having policies that are more reasonable.

********************

This customer bought a Sidekick and wanted to use it with AT&T. The listing clearly stated that the item was locked to T-Mobile, but they decided they could get it unlocked for their provider.

Umm, NOT.

So they returned the item for a refund. We CLEARLY state that all non defective returns are subjected to a 20% restocking fee and we do not refund shipping. This is mentioned on the website, as well as the return authorization form they are required to fill out and send back with the item. If you didn't read it, too bad for you. I try to be reasonable and fair, but...really? It's not like this came out of nowhere--- you were warned about this.

Let this be a lesson to you all: buyer beware. Read the fine print, read the return policy BEFORE committing to a purchase... not just online, but in brick-and-mortar stores too.

Umm, Wut? UPDATE

So after deciphering what the customer was trying to say, it seems like they returned an item to us without return authorization. I sent them an email stating we don't accept unauthorized returns.

Here is their response:

Wal-mart > USPS?

To Whom It May Concern:

I ordered a phone from you back in June of 2010 and I never received it. So I bought a phone from someone else.I will be returning the phone that you sent me untouched with no broken seal on the package. I have photographed the box as I received it and then marked the important information with yellow high lighter and again taken photographs. I do apologize for thinking you were not a reputable organization, but given the facts at the time it was in dispute. Now I am fully aware of where the problem initiated, the United States Post Office, I think more particularly the [city removed] Office. You sent it priority male with a tracking number, I hope it didn't cost you a lot, because I received it January 29, 2011, it only took, approximately one hundred and fifty five days for me to receive it. The Pony Express was faster. I do think Wal Mart Should take over the United State Post Office. Please contact me. I can send the photographs on request.

*************

Backstory:

This guy bought an item back in June. He said he never received it... the tracking number marked the item as being delivered, so there wasn't much we could have done on our end, since he didn't purchase insurance. [Honestly, even if he did, USPS would have given a hard time. Insurance only covered *lost* items. Items marked as delivered-whether received or not- are not considered lost. Fancy that.]

The customer quickly turned nasty; they filed a complaint with the BBB AND the NYS Consumer Affairs department, as well as a credit card dispute. He won the dispute, we (i.e me >__<) got nagged by the NYSCA, and he smeared our name all over the web (well, on ResellerRatings and some two-bit blog...).Then I get this email yesterday.

Isn't it funny how life works out?

Full o' Flounce (and a Threat too!)

Subject:     Re: ORDER [number removed]

Isn't that always the way it is? My fish die the day after the return policy too.  Well sorry that you can't help but I can of course not purchase anything from you again, and  I do have friends on Facebook
But thanks anyway.

One discouraged customer!

************************************
LOL I love when they threaten.

This customer was trying to return an item two months after her return policy expired. She actually called and spoke to me and I politely told her our policy was 30 days. She sounded a bit miffed and asked if there was anyone else she could speak to... when I told her I was the return specialist she hung up on me.... and emailed to complain.

I emailed her back and this was her response. *eyeroll*

Loved the sarcasm though... and I feel sorry for any fish she's ever bought. Just saying.

What an Awesome Boss!

Dear [eBay seller] ,

Received charger and the battery. Thanks.

I need to get an RMA for two phones. These were charged with multiple chargers and the batteries were changed out of both phones. They both will charge intermittently regardless of the charger and battery used. Even if they show a full charge, they will both die within three hours of disconnection from the charger with no usage at all. I am sure that you checked your phones for proper operation as they will operate for long enough to pass a quality check.

These were both issued to the same employee and he has annoyed me to the point that I thought about just laying him off so it would go away. Instead I took the phones and charged them myself with my charger and saw both of them 'die' within two hours of disconnection from the charger with no phone calls made. The real odd thing is the other two phones I issued have worked beautifully. Please give RMA and I will return for evaluation.

***********

Well, at least he was well spoken?

It's rare to get an intelligent customer who types well and isn't angry about a return that has to be made---for a multiple item return, even! There is a Return God, after all!! :D

Maybe he was joking about the employee... we should hope so. But in these tough times, I guess employers just need a damn excuse to fire people.... guess that makes me lucky, huh? //sarcasm

You Guys Suck and, and---DIE!!!

Ever heard of ResellerRatings.com? If not, you should check it out.

It's a site where you can rate different websites and comment on service, efficiency, etc.

Our averaged score: 7.89.

Shocking really.

I'll freely admit it, we sell shitty phones. I mean, not ALL of them are shitty, but our rate of returns is higher than 10%.

Anywho, I get a notification whenever a customer posts a rating. I got this gem in this morning and thought I'd share:

"this company sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do not buy from here unless you want your purchase to be your new paperweight.

My phone doesnt work that I bought. No reception, no signal.

How bout a refund?  Nope, they dont do refunds.  Only trades when you pay for the
shipping both ways.  I can almost buy another phone for the shipping costs.

This stupid company needs to be shut down and the owners SHOT!"

A little extreme, don't you think? Shit... I've been angry dealing with companies before, but I would never write such a thing about them. That shows your maturity/sanity level right there. If I was another customer reading that, it wouldn't deter me from buying from that company... I'd think it was an asshole disgruntled customer and still give the company a chance.

This review didn't get posted successfully because the person didn't provide a valid order number [one thing about RR I like; they make sure it's a real customer and not some wanker trying to be an asshole] but I bet you dollars to donuts the fucker never:

  1. tried to contact us. If they would have, they would have known that we accept returns within 30 days of purchase, which leads me to...
  2. Read the damn website. We clearly state that we have a 30 day return policy AND we don't cover return postage to us in the event of a return.
  3. Contacted their service provider. Most problems of the sort s/he said they were having are carrier issues that can be resolved without returning the phone.
I swear I'll never understand these Crazy ass customers....

I Wanna Shitch My Phone

Subject: return my phone

I wish to return this phone is very bulky, and out of date if it cannot be returned
I would rather shitch it for a black berry this phone takes for ever just to get it
to turn on it is very heavy and not ser friendly not at all what I expected

******************

....Yeah.

Dear customer:

Well, if you don't know proper spelling/syntax/punctuation/grammer, how the hell do you know the phone is out of date??? Especially since the phone is "not ser friendly" to you? You bought a phone that is less than two years old... that's as modern as most of out phones go.You think a more "modern" phone would be better for you? Nah, I think you should keep what you have. You'd be better off with a simple phone like a RAZR (or if you're old, a Jitterbug). Leave the Blackberrys and smartphones for people who can actually *use* them :P

Love,

Deena

Insipid Life, Complete with Run-ons!

I am so upset ,because life without a phone wich works can be insipid it is necessary and I demand my money back the poorly made product you sold me soon failed after its arrival, I cannot expresse the feelings of disapointment I feel at the moment I feel as if this is a scam I was hoping much more from your site,
[Name Removed]

****************
I was dying when I read this. Turns out this customer bought an Alltel phone when their service is AT&T. Thia happens all the time; I'm not sure if they mis-click the link, or just think that the name looks similar... I have no clue.

In any case {lemme school ya real quick], Alltel is a CDMA provider. CDMA providers (like Verizon/Alltel, and Sprint) require programming for the item to be hooked up to a customer's account. AT&T is a GSM carrier. They use a smart chip called a SIM card to activate service in a phone. GSM is more convenient because you can switch phones at anytime without having to contact your provider.

So you can see why this bereft customer cannot use their phone... it just ain't compatible.

I was shocked this one used such a $2 word as "insipid"... but it looks like they used a thesaurus... the rest of the email doesn't fit with the erudite word. Insipid is a word that describes most of my customers to a "T". Mayhap I should start using it more; especially in random emails to Customer Service reps.

Isn't it cute when they try to be smart?!?

Uh, What?

This is an excerpt from our Return Request form. I usually send this to the customers that send me one-liners ("I need to return my phone.") with no information whatsoever--- no name/other identifying information or reason for return.

******************

9.  Please tell in great detail what the specific problem is. Most of the time, problems can be solved through troubleshooting and clearing up misunderstandings: . > Unfortionatly when my phone got chared and I knew it had power I threw away the Box that it came in.I didnt even get a chance to activated it before this happened. I would appreciated very much if you could help me with my problem. thank you very much.

*****************

OK, first of all, you didn't even answer the damn question. What is the problem? I didn't ask you for the shipping box... why the hell would I? Most people throw away the box when they get an item... if that's what your problem is, you don't need my help at all.

Second of all... what is chared? I am curious... I'm taking a stab in the dark to guess you meant "charge".
Yeah, I made this customer re-fill out the form, stating there was no clear reason for return.

I'm waiting for the reply with bated breath.

Buyer's Remose

(no subject)

I was referred to your website by an account representative from Sprint.  My husband needed a new phone and did not want to re-sign a contract.  He wanted a smart phone that he could use to link his business software to.  We ordered this phone for him thinking that it would be perfect.  When we got it, we realized that it is FAR too large to suit his needs and it will not link to his office software.  He used it for a few days and has given up on the idea of trying to get it to work for him.  He would just like to pick out a different phone that he can at least fit into his pocket.  We didn’t realize that this phone was from 2003 and would be so large since it is referred to as “new” on the website. We are not asking for a refund, we would just like to send the phone back and pick out another style that might suit his needs better.  And on a different note, if we had known that there would be a chance our request would be “denied” when there is a banner at the top of your website stating 30-day Return Policy, we would never have bought from this site in the first place.  To me that is very unethical and underhanded.

**********************

I love how people only read the return information after they've bought something, and then they wanna bitch about it. What's the point? Furthermore, people like this customer are the reason for the disclaimer if your return request is honored... that and the people who want to return items after like two months.

People need to be informed consumers... I cannot stress this enough. I would never buy anything blindly (with the exception of yarn; worst case scenario, I can sell/give it away with no issues). Electronics especially. If you were looking for a particularly sized phone:
  1. Read the specifications. They tell you the exact dimensions of the phone
  2. Do a Google search. Not only can you read what other people thought of the phone, but you can probably find a picture showing its actual size.
Just plain ignorance... and these ignorant fucks are the first ones to start complaining about things. I'll never understand it.

Crazy A$$ Returns #1

This was a return I received last year. I don't manually process returns like I used to (they finally realized I didn't have the time to do so anymore...) I just paper push 'em now ;)

Back in the day (luckily for you!) I took pictures of returns wrapped up/shipped in odd things.

This return isn't quite of of those.

They say a picture is worth 1,000 words. I have two pictures.

...Yeah.

We require the RMA # to be written on the box the phones are SHIPPED BACK TO US IN, not on the box the phone's in. This happens all the time (as people misunderstand it... I thought it was self explanatory. Heh. I should have known better) but this one... really? I had to take a picture of it... and I'm so glad I did, now ^__^

Enjoy, and have a good weekend!
